Hypnotherapy Treatment for Addictions
(Medical advice should be sought before contacting us)in order for the light to enter in! '
Often, when we think of addiction, we think of substance addiction -- drugs and alcohol usually springing first to mind. And indeed, these are addictions that we treat regularly in our hypno-psychotherapy practice here in the UK. But addiction can also come in many different guises that don't really involve substances at all.Examples of this include shopping, gambling, the internet and sex. All share similarities, however, regardless of the particular substance, activity or behaviour involved.
The great majority of individuals experiencing addiction in one form or another have probably tried to give up their addiction only to return to the substance or behaviour after hours, days, weeks, months or even years.
The fact is that people become addicted because the addiction serves a purpose. The addict uses substances or engages in addictive behaviour for a whole host of different reasons -- as an escape from a difficult reality, in order to cope with uncomfortable emotions and feelings such as anger, guilt, loneliness etc, to relieve pain or in order to fit in with a social group.
Or it just might begin because they feel like a little recreation, a reward for getting through the day or the week.
Usually, though, addicts use substances and behaviours in order to cope with those uncomfortable feelings
The problem is, of course, that the relief is only temporary, a brief distraction, and what starts off as a release, an apparent friend, fast becomes a prison and a vicious enemy. And now the person finds him or herself locked into the terrible cycle of addiction as it continues on in its terrible, inexorable downward spiral.
Whatever the addiction, AIRO Therapy™, combined with Advanced Transformational Hypnotherapy, and Ego State Therapy can help.
But it can only do this when the addicted person is prepared to fully admit that he or she has a problem and is prepared to stop making excuses and accept the responsibility to really do something about it. The simple truth is that in order for you to end your addiction you will need to work at it.
Addiction - Help is available, but you have to really want it
If you commit to a course of therapy for an addiction with Peter, you will be asked to attend a 12-Step Programme on a regular basis in conjunction with the office sessions, in order to receive the all important support that such groups provide. (Most of these groups are free of charge.)
Peter Field has been involved with 12-Step work for over twenty five years. If you are truly ready to end your addictive behaviour, he will work with you, tackling the issue at its roots. However, you need to play your part. And this involves going to a 12-Step Programme
on a regular basis.
It might help to look at it this way: If you are addicted, you are involved in a behaviour that has the potential to ruin your life. Left untreated it will simply get worse. Your attitude needs to be: 'I will do whatever is necessary to break free of the awful, devastating chains of my addiction'.
If you have this attitude, then Peter will work with you, helping you on your journey of recovery.
You really can take your life back and emerge as a stronger, wiser, much more healthy and balanced individual.
