As the Clock Ticks
Here it is -- February!
Just twenty eight brief days and then it will be gone, never to return...
With each day there will be challenges to be faced, just as there will be joy to be experienced.
Along with the discoveries there may well be disappointments. Mixed right in with the light there may well be dark. But whatever comes our way brings with it an opportunity to learn and to grow.
In each experience there is a lesson and there is little doubt that some lessons will be easier to learn than others. But we cannot choose to learn only from the easy experiences: In fact, it's often the more difficult and uncomfortable experiences that have more to teach us.
In order to learn life's lessons we need to open our minds to all experience, because in each experience there is something to be learned, something to be gained.
The truth is that each single day brings with it its own special opportunity, its own special message. And all we need do is to listen, because when we allow ourselves to listen we become open to new learning.
Instead of becoming totally overwhelmed by what is happening, take a step back. Step outside the worry, the anxiety or the boredom, the chaos or the cacophony. Pause for a moment and pretend that those things belong to someone else, someone who has come to you for advice.
How can you help that person?
Is it helpful if you too begin to worry, become really anxious or bored? How can you really listen when you are adding to the chaos or the cacophony?
Take that step back and choose to look at the bigger picture. Ask yourself if you truly need to jump to conclusions about each little thing.
Isn't there a bigger picture, a larger reason behind it all? It doesn't need to be clear or apparent at this moment in time. Just step outside of that judgemental self, look with your heart and you will begin to see and to understand.
Then go one step further and consider how you can make use of this understanding.
Listen carefully now and you will hear the clock that is ticking. All too soon February will be over. Why not take each of these twenty eight days, treat it like the gift that it really is, decide to learn from it and live it?
You know, you really can start afresh.
And you can do it right now.
